Artwork > planned & accidental

planned & accidental was a new series of work I made exploring the shift from representational painting into more abstract colour compositions. The series of drawings and paintings was based on the compositions of various paintings I have completed over the past 15 years. I made approximately 70 small scale drawings which all use randomly selected colours. I found the process to be very challenging but also very inspiring. It’s hard to let go of a recognizable image, but fascinating to see how pure colour can determine the success or failure of a composition. It’s also been exceedingly difficult to use random colours and to push myself out of comfort zone, but I think the process has been hugely beneficial and I’m excited to continue what I’ve been learning.
